Separated at Birth: Al Franken & The Joker

Al Franken (left): "Actor", "Comedian" and (God help us) Democrat Senate candidate out of Minnesota. By the way, check out one of the latest Top 11 lists by Sisyphus at the blog Nihilist in Golf Pants. It's the Top 11 Reasons why Al Franken failed to pay Workers' Comp for his campaign employees.

The Joker, brilliantly played by Jack Nicholson in the 1989 film Batman.

I just noticed how Heath Ledger as the Joker in the new Batman movie sound like Al Franken's character Steward Smalley

Heath's Joker voice sounds so much like Al Franken's voice when in person. When Al pauses and gets slightly flustered while trying to think of his next words, he does this, "ummm", thing that Heath does throught the movie. If you've heard Al speaking, like during debates when he has to think while he talks, you'll be freaked out by the similarity in their voices. Its ridiculously creepy, and slightly ironic/scary...

I just saw Dark Night and had not heard mention of this before hand. The second Heath Ledger spoke as the Joker it totally reminded me of someone. It was going to be one of those things that bugged me the entire movie had I not come up with it, but I did: Al Franken!!! I'm glad someone out there agrees. Without a doubt he's doing an Al Franken impersonation
