A shocking incident occurred Thursday evening following a Women's National Invitational Tournament college basketball game.

Ugly, ugly scene in the handshake line. A Memphis player punched Elissa Brett. Just brutal. pic.twitter.com/2hptXYBEtj
The Memphis player is Jamirah Shutes, who was playing in her final college basketball game. And given that was indeed her last collegiate contest, Ms. Shutes won't have to worry about any suspensions from the NCAA.
But when it comes to legal repercussions? Well, that's going to be addressed in due time.

Are we allowed to speculate on the possibility that this incident had racial overtones given Shutes is black and her victim, Elissa Brett, is white? I say that because I guarantee there would've been a helluva lot more than mere speculation were the roles reversed.
