While watching the LA Dodgers take on the Boston Red Sox last week, I was particularly interested in a play which took place in the seventh inning. With the Red Sox leading 2-0, Dodgers second baseman Blake DeWitt was hit in the knee by a pitch from Clay Buchholz. As a result, DeWitt could not continue and thus was replaced by a pinch runner.
Now why did I find this seemingly benign play so interesting?
Said pinch runner was a guy by the name of Chin-lung Hu. Naturally he went right to first base. But much to my chagrin, the TV announcers failed to belabor the obvious.
"Hu's on first....."

Actually, it reminds me one of my IT professors at the U of MN was Dr. Hu. As a fan of the old British sci-fi show, I once wore my "Doctor Who" sweatshirt and sat in the front row. You'd think some nerd in IT would get the joke, but no one did.
