Citing the need to focus more on her recovery, Giffords will step down this week.
But before she walked away, Giffords took care of one more order of business on Monday morning. In a final act of service on behalf of her constituents, Rep. Giffords finished her "Congress On Your Corner" meeting which she was in the midst of fulfilling on that fateful Saturday morning a little more than twelve months ago.
Dignified, courageous and heroic to the end.
Godspeed, Rep. Giffords.

she's still a politician. though i dont wish her any ill, she's not a saint either. she's a politician, not a hero.
she's a politician, not a hero.
I'd say for all she's overcome, she's an inspiration if nothing else. Considering where she was a year ago compared to today takes a heroic effort on her part, politician or no.
i'd rather see stories about a wounded soldier.
she'e getting the ink because she's a democrat politician, one of Obama's agenda people.
Great post, Brad. Giffords' courage is laudable and I pray for her complete recovery.
I admire her, but I am glad she is resigning. Her district deserves to have representation and she hasn't been able to provide it for the past year. Better that someone else do it.
Godspeed to her.
yer right mr D. cause the only thing better than a crippled politician is a fully functional one, and we need more of those.

Heh. Now that I'm an "elected official," perhaps I'm getting the dreaded "strange new respect" disease....
