Boston Red Sox slugger Ted Williams, who was hitting .405 at the break, hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the American League a 7-5 victory. Despite many magical moments in a legendary career, Williams called that game-winning clout "the most thrilling hit of my life."
