We just need politicians that are better politicians. We always cringe when Democrats answer a question completely different than the one asked, or respond with an answer that leaves the listener in complete ignorance or confusion as to the Democrat's actual position.
Republicans could do something similar while still being "honest and forthright," as is their wont. All they need do is say something like, "I think that issue has been pretty well discussed, and I'm more focused on... (the deficit, foreign policy, wasteful spending, Obamacare failures, whatever).
