SCOTUS update

President Barack Obama will soon be nominating someone to replace deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. There's been boundless speculation as to whose name will be called, but it seems rather moot given that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already stated that the next President should fill the vacancy.

On Monday, two different news outlets declined to name names but rather speculated on the background of potential replacements. Said outlets suggest we're either going to get a Black Lesbian Amputee Vet or a Gay, Transsexual Abortion Doctor as a nominee

OK, I'm obviously being facetious here given that the "news" outlets I cited were satirical sites ScrappleFace and The Onion. But given the fact we live in a country where the most dominant male triathlete of the 1970s considers himself a woman, can we possibly rule anything out?

I would hope that at some point, the "lesbian black Muslim" judge would persuade the electorate that it was about gimmickry and not jurisprudence. However, seeing how well Sanders, Hilliary, and Trump are doing in the polls, the proverb about nobody ever going broke by underestimating the intelligence of Americans does come to mind.....

Nobody believes that Obama is emotionally capable of nominating anybody not of the same ideological Fever Swamp as himself. He may paint some stripes on a donkey, but he can't make it a zebra. The GOP Senate only needs to slow-walk this nomination and run out the clock. Obama's bombast will only increase GOP turnout.
