The home run Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer surrendered to Toronto's Vernon Wells this game was the 506th career HR Moyer allowed, setting the record for most homers given up in a career (the long standing record of 505 was held by Robin Roberts). Moyer would finish his career allowing 522 HRs.

Boston Red Sox slugger Ted Williams, who was hitting .405 at the break, hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the American League a 7-5 victory. Despite many magical moments in a legendary career, Williams called that game-winning clout "the most thrilling hit of my life."

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge struck out five times in this second game of a doubleheader. In the first game, Judge whiffed three times. The eight strikeouts in a twin bill is an all time MLB record for a hitter.
