However, there seems to be more than just a little smoke here.
Leah Thompson is agreeing with Brad Garrett's assessment of the allegedly toxic work environment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The Back to the Future actress, 59, responded on Twitter Friday to PEOPLE's report of Garrett's comments on the daytime talk show's culture.
"Sorry but it comes from the top @TheEllenShow," the Everybody Loves Raymond star, who appeared as a guest on the show six times between 2004 and 2007, wrote on Twitter, tagging Ellen DeGeneres. "Know more than one who were treated horribly by her. Common knowledge."
Thompson agreed that DeGeneres' alleged mistreatment is "common knowledge," writing on Twitter, "True story. It is."
As such, it's been reported that DeGeneres is looking to move on from her talk show altogether.
What I find rather peculiar is how fellow entertainers are tossing DeGeneres under the bus after years of holding her up as the standard bearer of kindness and compassion in an industry which sorely lacks such traits. But then it occurred to me. Before President Trump, who did Hollywood elites consider the most reviled U.S. political leader? Why, George W. Bush of course. And it was Ellen's unabashed friendship with Dubya that sent many proggies into hysterics, some even proclaiming she was "betraying her legacy as a lesbian icon."
The bottom line is there have been persistent rumors for years that DeGeneres mistreated staff, yet there was nary a peep from those celebs who benefited from appearing on her show. No, the truly unforgivable sin is likely Ellen not mistreating someone (i.e. Bush) whom they believe absolutely had it coming.
