Problematic

I don't know about you, but all too often I find myself viewing movies made more than 20 years earlier through a prism of "Could such a film be made today?" What I mean by that is the dialogue in some of these pre-21st century films would not only be deemed offensive were it made in today's hypersensitive culture but the movie producers, directors, etc. might be blackballed from future productions unless they participated in reeducation sensitivity training.

With that in mind, perhaps the most protected class in American society today are transsexuals (just ask Martina Navratilova or Scarlett Johansson). As such, podcaster extraordinaire Joe Rogan engaged in what almost sounded like mockery of the thought police while simultaneously providing a scenario which sounds all too plausible today (NSFW).





Yep. A slapstick, screwball comedy like Ace Venture: Pet Detective (released in 1994) would be considered "problematic" today. Stupid times, indeed.
