For the second consecutive month, I ended where I started. My goal since January was to lose a pound per week which would have put me at 199 lbs at the end of April. Alas, I’m still at 207. So if I am to reach my goal of 195 lbs by my birthday (May 24…hint, hint), I’m going to have to do the Helen-Hunt-drink-nothing-but-water-and-eat-nothing-but-lettuce-a-week-prior-to-the-1998-Oscars diet. Since I’m about as pleasant as a bear with a sore behind when I’m underfed, that’s not an option. Instead, it’s time to reset the goal altogether.
My lowest weight over the past five years has been 203. I am going to shoot for that over the next four weeks. I will then attempt to lose the final eight pounds over a 6 ½ week span from my birthday to our wedding anniversary.
It’s going to be a challenge since it’s now barbeque season.
Say, does anybody know if you can successfully grill tofu?

I don't know about tofu, but grilled veggies are pretty good!
ReplyDeleteCertainly! All it requires is a little latitude given to the definition of "successfully". :-)
ReplyDeleteTry the Atkins diet (what I'm on)... but don't forego veggies... instead, go with asparagus, artichokes, and other low-carb vegetables. (Taking a multivitamin helps, too).
ReplyDeleteThat's the only way I've been able to lose weight, and I've lost 12 pounds in the past three weeks.

ReplyDeleteCongrats, Leo!!
Yeah, I've done Atkins before and was quite successful. But my whole thing is I just have to change a few bad habits. Portion control is the biggest hurdle for me.
I recall you were losing weight in anticipation of your eldest's wedding. Has that taken place yet?
