In the Washington Post, <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/on-faith/wp/2013/08/28/christians-in-egypt-in-the-crosshairs/" rel="nofollow">Ken Blackwell argued well</a> how democracy requires religious freedom first of all, and that the current U.S. State department simply does not understand this.<br />Syrian Christians are wary of U.S. intervention, and Syrian Jews have similar cause for concern.
